Lizard - True Form

An old Guatemalan tale speaks of a holy gentleman, Pedro de San José de Betancur, whom people usually searched for aid. One morning, a poor and troubled soul approached brother Pedro. Saddened by this man's story, the father looked around for something to give to him. His eyes locked their gaze to a lizard taking the sun. Saint Pedro gently took this reptile and, to the poor man's surprise, turned it into a jewel of gold and emeralds. The father gave him the jewel and told him go to a pawn shop to get some money. Obediently, the Indian went and soon remedied both his and his familiy's hunger. He even was able to buy a farm, that prospered in no time. The man, remembering brother Pedro, wanted to repay his debt. He got a hold of the jewel he was given and went with the holy man. The father, now an old man and with bad memory, mindlessly took the jewel from him and placed it on a rock...
