Day 14 - Adapt Or Die

Early on in my live music career the DJ explosion started eating up gigs and I got super-duper mad about it. I got judgy and moaned and cried about the death of real art and the total lack of what I considered to be (hard-earned) skill. There were a bunch of musicians who agreed with me.

Every single one of us might have been right but history and the vast majority of humans couldn't have cared less about our feelings.

And now I believe we were completely wrong.

Watching all the protests by artists now I’m hearing myself from a decade or so ago. I am completely sympathetic to the feelings they are having. And they will end up not mattering. This wave will not wait for them or for anyone. It literally cannot be stopped. There will be innovative ways to try to create adherence to the old ideas of copyright but i have an intense feeling that in this new paradigm where all people are handed creative superpowers that…
